The Gauntlet - Part 2
The constant fights over the last few days were driving her crazy. It had become so monotonous that she found herself using the same tactics over and over again. Well, mostly because they worked so well. It was only obvious that someone sat down, made notes, and came up with a counter. The latest tactic, threatening civilians, was working thus far. She decided to take one more hit.
And sure enough she found herself flying into a parked car as the speed-type tagged her again. But now, she had all three in her sights. Her first move; a barrier right where the speed-type was heading for cover. He never saw it coming.
Thug number two was making a mad rush to the next lot of civilians; a small barrier near his feet tripped him up really good; she’ll get back to him. Goon No. 3, seeing his teammates bungling all over the place panics and is about to smash the roof of a car with its occupants still inside. With a flick of her wrist, he finds himself 20 stories up in the air. Thug No. 2 is just about getting up when she slams him face first back into the road. Finally, she stops the rapidly falling Goon No.3 a few feet before he hits the road. He’s in shock and probably saw his life flash before his eyes.
The cops from the perimeter close in and take the villains into custody. A few camera crews have gathered, so Victory Girl heads over to ‘reassure the public’, as part of her agreement with E-Division. Some fans follow her for pictures and autographs. Slowly, the crowd disperses as the villains are taken away. A damage control crew comes in to access the damage from this latest encounter, and clear the area of rubble and other damaged property. From her vantage point of the roof of a nearby building, Victory Girl sees the city go back to normal, like it was just another day.
