In the beginning - Part 2
Part 2:
The bystander:
***
I had initially planned to write this whole story from the PoV of Victory Girl, and it would play out like a game of chess. Except, when I thought about it, I felt that the impact of 'watching her in action' would be lost. So then, I decided to borrow a bit of Rashomon, except instead of recalling the same event from different PoVs, I'd use the different PoVs to tell parts of the story that would have the most impact to the people witnessing the event unfolding.

The bystander:
I have no idea who she was. Never seen her around here before. She went right up to the police barricade, and pushed it aside like it was nothing. The cops didn’t know what was going on. Was she part of the kidnappers’ crew or just a bystander who had lost her mind. And then, the strangest thing happened.
The hostage:
The hostage:
One second, she was walking towards me; the next she was standing in front of me. She had the biggest smile on her face as she touched my head and she told me it would all be fine. She then touched the big man and he let me go. She never stopped smiling when she told me to close my eyes. She has such a pretty smile.
The fanboy:
You should have seen her! She dropped the big guy like he was nothing. She grabbed the little girl just as the flame guy let loose! Everyone was sure that was the end of both of them! But then, through the flames, her hand emerges and she breaks his wrists! There’s the gust of breeze as the speed guy moves in as soon as the flames die. We could feel the impacts from his punches where we were standing, but she never stops shielding the little girl!
The speedster:

The speedster:
I was moving so fast man. You should have seen me! Well, actually, you couldn’t. I rained down blows on that broad but it was like hitting a brick wall. My fists are still sore. And then, the next thing I know is, I ran into some invisible wall. Broke my nose man.
The cop:
The cop:
Once the speedster fell flat on his face, the ground started rumbling. We were told there was an earth mover type Evolved on the scene, but we hadn’t seen him yet. All the rubble in the area began levitating and Just as the rubble looked like it would bury them, she reached out her hand in his direction and dropped a column on him. The sucker didn’t see it coming. The telepath surrendered shortly after. She waited for the sixth member of their team to make a move but he or she didn’t show their face.
The mother:
The mother:
It was over, in a matter of seconds. What seemed like hours, with the cops and negotiations and threats and my poor daughter. And she ended it. In seconds. She seemed like an angel who glided over to hand me my daughter, all the while the cops had all their guns aimed at her, like it didn’t even bother her one bit. She smiled through everything as she told my daughter to open her eyes. I am so happy. I never thought I’d see my child again. She then told us to take care of each other and looked upwards and was gone.
